Meet Your Program Director, David Tian, Ph.D. 

Hi, I'm David.

I started in academia. I was a tenure-track university professor specializing in philosophical and moral psychology, which is the study of how people actually make decisions, hold values, and respond under pressure. The research was clear about one thing: understanding human behavior intellectually is not the same as transforming it.

So I left the lecture hall and went to work on the second problem.

Over the next two decades, I trained in the therapeutic and coaching modalities with the strongest evidence behind them. I'm a Level 3 Certified practitioner of Internal Family Systems Therapy, one of the most effective evidence-based therapies for emotional pattern change. I have advanced training in Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, and almost a dozen other psychotherapy modalities. I earned my professional coaching certification from Brown University.
